BAUER Maschinen is set for a towering performance at bauma 2010, when it puts its most powerful rig of the BG series in the limelight at the show.

The new Bauer BG 50 rotary drilling rig has an operating weight of 240 tonnes and an engine output of 706 kW. Its mast can be extended to an overall height of up to 35 m.
The rig is designed for drilling depths of up to 100 m and borehole diameters up to 4.5 m. These dimensions require a winch with a 60-tonne single line pull capacity. The machine will be showcased with a 3-m diameter drilling bucket.
Bauer will also put on show the fully hydraulic crawler crawler/cable crane MC 128 designed for specialist foundation engineering.

“A basic model of the MC 128 has already proved itself on site and is in operation on the Cairo metro site in Egypt since autumn of 2009,” says a spokesman for Bauer.
Elaborating on the equipment, he says: “As a universal crawler crane and lift crane, the MC 128 has a maximum lifting capacity of 200 tonnes with an overall operating weight well in excess of 200 tonnes, depending on the type of equipment used. The sturdy design of the welded structures of the upper carriage, undercarriage and boom, the high engine power exceeding 700 kW and the hydraulic system designed for operating front-end equipment with high power requirements are all aimed at heavy-duty cycle operation in specialist foundation engineering.”
The machine showcased at bauma 2010 features a special type of winch with a single line pull capacity of 200 kN. Of particular interest are the counterweight hoist cylinders with their patented multiple useage concept. In addition to their normal function, the cylinders are also used for upper carriage stabilisation during unusually heavy operations and during transport.
“For a machine of this size, the MC 128 is exceptionally transport-friendly and can be rigged and de-rigged with its own on-board equipment. Due to the hydraulic locking system with the middle section of the undercarriage, the crawler units can be mounted and de-mounted quickly and easily,” he says.
The Bauer BG 50 and the special foundation crane MC 128 are both mounted on the same type of Bauer undercarriage.
