ARKAN Building Materials Company of Abu Dhabi and Urbina of Spain have joined hands and set up a venture to supply scaffolding and related products to the Gulf region.

The new joint venture, called Arkan Urbina, will initially supply materials imported from Spain but will later build a state-of-the-art scaffolding factory – claimed to be the UAE's first scaffolding manufacturing facility – at the Arkan Industrial Park in Al Ain. The factory will be operational by the end of next year.
The mega industrial park, which had a soft launch at the Big 5 show last month, will encompass a total of 40 factories for building materials, including the scaffolding facility and one of the largest cement factories in the world.
Based in Abu Dhabi, Arkan Urbina will supply high-performance equipment to serve the construction, petrochemical and aeronautical and shipyard industries throughout the Gulf region.
The new company aims to be a leader in the sale and rental of multi-directional scaffolding and related products in the Gulf region, providing high-quality products and services whilst offering a variety of solutions to meet the exacting requirements of its customers.
“Adaptability and safety, as well as easy and rapid assembly, are the key elements of the Arkan Urbina scaffolding,” says Dr Jeremy Rowson, chief operating officer. “Adaptability is possible thanks to its eight angles of assemble; security is ensured by a variety of pieces especially designed for that purpose; and its assembly and dismantling is extremely fast and easy.
He continues: “The Arkan Urbina multi-directional scaffolding system is recognised as a quality product certified by the highest quality standards, (UNE-EN 12810:2005 and UNE-EN 12811:2005) and tested in the most prestigious laboratories in Spain to assure our clients of the quality of our product.
“The raw materials used in the whole manufacturing process provide a highly-resistant, lightweight and durable product. The use of steel ST-44 allows charges of even 44 kg sq mm, and the hot-dip galvanisation process increases the lifespan and gives an attractive finish to the product. The Arkan Urbina multi-directional scaffolding system also includes an exclusive ring that, thanks to its octagonal design, prevents rolling when the standards are positioned horizontally.”
In addition, Arkan Urbina offers a wide variety of construction materials such as conventional scaffolding and props, both with epoxy paint finish and made of ST-44 steel, which provides a high-quality and corrosion-resistant product, he adds.
Commenting on the creation of Arkan Urbina, Mohsen Al Marri of Arkan Building Materials Company, says: “We are excited to launch this new joint venture with Urbina, who have a global reputation for their manufacturing expertise and are an acknowledged leader in the European construction industry.”
He adds: “We see this joint venture as an opportunity for us to expand our portfolio and benefit from European manufacturing know-how, and we are committed to work closely with Urbina to leverage our combined strengths to cater to the rising demand for scaffolding materials in the Middle East.”
