
During just over a decade and a half of its association with the Al Basti and Muktha (ABM) group, Majid Bukatara Building Materials (MBBM) – a specialist in a wide range of building materials products and related services – has done more than 100 projects with the group.
“We are happy with the mutually beneficial association that we share with the ABM group and are looking forward to add more projects to our joint portfolio. To date, the partnership has done business in excess of Dh8 million ($2.2 million) and we hope to do more in future,” says an MBBM spokesman in Dubai.
Established 20 years ago, MBBM has supplied building materials to many ABM projects including staff accommodation for Emirates airlines; Emaar headquarters, Deira; Furat residential villas, Emaar Properties; 829 villas at the Arabian Ranches; 222 villas also at the Arabian Ranches; residential tower at the Dubai Marina; Marina Tower; residential building for Al Rostamani in Dubai; Capitol Hotel and Al Rafa Police headquarters in Dubai. Through a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction, MBBM has grown in size over the years and diversified into activities ranging from manufacturing, trading, fabrication, MEP contracting, labour supplies and information technology, the spokesman points out.
MBBM is also renowned as one of the major traders/suppliers of a wide range of building materials and other related services.
“We have a great goodwill and are known for timely supplies, commitment to quality and strong creditworthiness in the market. In addition, we represent well-known principals and have exclusive distributorship rights for various brands in the building materials sector, which makes us a leading player in the industry,” he says.
“The group’s success is evident from its ever-increasing turnover and staff strength since its establishment in 1985. Today, we can boast a total turnover in excess of Dh100 million and a highly skilled multinational workforce of 350,” he says.
The MBBM group has several companies working under it. In the manufacturing division MBBM has Ostermeier, a leading designer and manufacturer of stainless steel garbage chute and disposable systems for high-rise buildings and hotels, with complete installation and maintenance support. The company also specialises in stainless steel fabrication works of kitchen and hotel equipment, hospital and laboratory equipment, building access and drainage products.
Within its fabrication division, the group enfolds Mechanical Engineering Services, which specialises in the application of protective epoxy coating and grit blasting for steel products, structures, tanks, silos and manhole covers. Mechanical Engineering Services (aluminium) – the second entity in the division – deals in architectural metal works in cast aluminium, wrought iron, mild steel and all types of cladding fabrication works.
Al Majaz Fibre Glass Factory – the third company in the same division – deals in a wide range of fabrication works for GRP products, electrical enclosures, storm water system traps, sealing plates for manhole covers, sand traps and storm drainage units, among others.
Under its trading umbrella, the group enfolds:
• Slovak Electro Mechanical company, which deals in the de-watering pumps, hoses, and other related accessories under one roof;
• Al Mostaqsal Building Materials, which trades in branded products for water and sewage treatment projects, as well as for ductile and cast iron manhole covers, pipe fittings, SS gratings; and
• Cheqpoint Tech Trading, which deals in electrical items, and any other related services to construction industry.
Under its contracting and maintenance sector, MBBM includes the Sharjah-based Layan Electro Mechanical, a company that specialises in turnkey works of all kinds of electrical, mechanical and air-conditioning jobs.
MBBM’s interior decoration and joinery division, is represented by Interscapes Interiors, which specialises in all kinds of metal and wood interiors including wood flooring, soft furnishing like carpets, wardrobes and kitchens.
