Cortec Corporation has introduced a new corrosion protection product to reach hidden areas easily missed by common corrosion inhibitors thus leaving these areas exposed to the effects of corrosion.
Patent pending, the EcoFog VpCI-309 Nano is a Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibiting (VpCI) powder designed to protect ferrous metals in hard-to-reach recessed areas, interior cavities, and voids.
Due to the submicron particles, it diffuses faster, travels longer distances, and has a much larger specific surface area compared to a product with larger sized particles, says a spokesman for the US-based company.
He says: “EcoFog VpCI-309 Nano offers VpCI protection with unique physiochemical advantages, making it an extremely efficient method to treat hard-to-reach spaces within an enclosed space. Cortec’s patented VpCI technology provides a monomolecular inhibiting layer on products.”
The EcoFog VpCI-309 Nano powder is easy to apply with little or no surface preparation needed and provides superior protection to ferrous metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, he says. This product does not contain silicates, phosphates, nitrites, or heavy metals and provides up to 24 months of continuous protection. It also does not affect the physical properties of the product and can be removed by air gun or water rinse.
EcoFog VpCI-309 Nano can be used in a range of applications including on tubular structures, pipes, vessels, and turbines; internal surfaces of compressors, turbines, engines, tanks, boilers, and heat exchangers; dry lay-up of closed circuit cooling systems; equipment protection after hydrostatic testing; and parts, components, and completed assemblies during shipping and storage
EcoFog VpCI-309 Nano is available in 2.3 kg, 23 kg, and 45 kg lined drums and has a shelf life of up to 24 months. It conforms to MIL 1-22110C standard.
