Huntsman shows off HP coatings

Jensen ...important market.

Huntsman –  a key player in the global coatings market offering a huge range of specialty chemicals and formulated solutions –  introduced its extensive product mix at last month’s Middle East Coating Show, giving its regional clients and trade visitors a chance to benefit from the vast expertise of the company’s top experts.

Showcasing its world-class capabilities in epoxy, polyurethane, MDI (diphenylmethane-diisocyanate), amine and titanium dioxide technologies, Huntsman put the spotlight on products that offer outstanding mechanical properties for demanding specialist and structural applications.
“The Middle East and specially the booming Gulf region is very important for us. We have already initiated our expansion plans in the region and are looking forward to be the top player in the region’s specialised coatings segment,” says vice president of coatings, construction and adhesives at Huntsman’s Advanced Materials division, Gorm Jensen. “Our base in Dubai is already well established with huge stocking capabilities, serving a majority of our clients in the Arabian Gulf. In addition, we have teams of talented scientists and experts continually seeking new technological solutions and formulations to create advanced materials which outperform the properties and durability of traditional materials.”
This division of the company supplies advanced high-performance materials for prototyping and manufacturing. Investing heavily in research, development and processes, the division offers a unique and wide range of innovative solutions, combined with strong technical support and customer service in adhesives, tooling materials and composite resins.
“During the recent show we have highlighted Huntsman’s range of solutions for modern high-performance coating systems including Suprasec –  MDI-based products, which can be used in pipelines, bridge and car park surfaces and cold storage applications,” he points out.
Advanced Materials’ innovative solutions, which are used by over 9,000 companies worldwide, include high-performance protective coatings used in the construction of steel bridges and concrete flooring and a broad spectrum of structural adhesives and composites used in aircraft manufacturing, production of windmill blades for power generation, construction of liquefied natural gas tankers and storage facilities, materials to manufacture printed circuit boards for advanced electronic equipment and insulation materials for the electric power generation industry.
“Our breadth of expertise is reflected in the strength of our product portfolio and the long-standing relationships we have with leading innovators in the coatings industry. With competencies across all major chemistries, we have the technical base available to assist with the development of any sort of coating solution, no matter what the application or performance requirements,” says Jensen.
During the MEC Show 2006, the company also showcased its highly-specialised Jeffamine products, employed in polyurea and epoxy performance coatings, and its range of Surfonamine amine modifiers used in the pigment industry.
In addition, Huntsman also put on show its surfactant –  recently developed to improve emulsion polymerisation processes (EP) –  a new IP-protected coalescing agent technology, new amine-dispersant aids for water-based systems and a full range of elastomers.
