

RAK Ceramics has opened of its ninth factory in the emirate at a cost of Dh180 million ($49 million) to join its operational system.
The new factory, comprising three gres porcellanato (porcelain) ceramic production lines, is considered the most advanced in the world, with respect to the technology used, the machinery and the state-of-the-art equipment it incorporates.
The new plant falls within the framework of RAK Ceramics’ comprehensive expansion plan to meet the increasing international demand for the company's high-quality products.
An in-house technical team, led company chief executive officer Khater Massaad, designed the new machinery.
Massaad said the daily total production capacity of the new factory exceeded 35,000 sq m of high quality ceramics, in a variety of designs, shapes and sizes. With the opening of the ninth factory, the total daily production capacity of all RAK factories would have exceeded
200,#000 sq m, which is expected to rise to 300,000 sq m daily after the completion of local and overseas expansions bythe end of the year.
The production of more than 3.3 million sanitary ware pieces every year complements this extensive collection of products.
He confirmed that the total volume of RAK Ceramics investments in its nine factories within Ras Al Khaimah, and its factories in China, Bangladesh and Sudan, as well as its factories in India and Iran, currently under construction, had so far surpassed Dh1.5 billion.
The chief executive also announced the commencement of construction work on the company's tenth factory in Ras Al Khaimah at cost of Dh180 million.
Although this latest factory is expected too to operate according to the state-of-the-art exclusive technology presently employed in RAK Ceramics ninth factory, the output will reach more than 45,000 sq m per day, beginning next October.
