KTI plant ... pioneer in the field.

Technology from KTI-Plersch Kaltetechnik of Germany – a name that has been associated with concrete cooling for over two decades is keeping Unimix’s concrete cool and ensuring that it stays that way when it arrives on site.

A pioneer and leader in the field of concrete cooling, KTI made its debut in the Middle East in 1984 when it supplied its first plant to the region. Since then a number of plants have been supplied to the Gulf.
“All the plants are containerised and thus mobile, which helps cut down the time required for erection and installation,” says a spokesman for the company. “This also facilitates the relocation of  plants for future projects, from one site to another within a few days, ensuring a minimum downtime.”
KTI designs and supplies a complete range of concrete cooling products, including:
• Containerised ice water plants (water temperature less than 1 deg C) with a standard range from 27 to 360 cu m per day in 20 ft or 40-ft containers. However, depending on the individual projects, plants with larger capacities can be delivered;
• Flake ice plants with standard capacities range from 15 to 100 tonnes per day (tpd) in 20 ft or 40 ft containers. As with the chillers, higher capacities can be designed and supplied depending on the project requirements;
• Mobile ice storages with capacities from 23 to 75 tonnes, equipped with fully automatic loading and discharge systems;
• Pneumatic ice delivery systems; and
• Conventional delivery systems with screw conveyors and weighing hoppers.
Since each plant is custom built, KTI ensures that it liaises with customers to find an optimum solution to meet their requirements in terms of design, capacities and layout.
KTI has supplied complete concrete cooling systems for some of the ongoing mega projects in the Middle East including the expansion of Dubai International Airport, where the total volume of concrete involved is more than 2.9 million cu m (ice production: 600 tpd), the Jumeriah Beach Residence which required 1.9 million cu m of concrete (ice production: 400 tpd) and many other prestigious projects such as the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Burj Al Arab and the Emirates Towers in Dubai.
To support its Middle East operations, it has an office in Dubai – Various Ice Products (VIP) – which has also resident service engineers in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran to provides an efficient after-sales service.
