Apartnership that has spelt success and a string of iconic structures are two common elements that have bound pioneer construction equipment supplier German Gulf Enterprises (GGE) and Unimix together over the past two decades.
The partnership has brought these companies together on numerous landmark projects in the past and with its fleet of modern equipment, GGE has helped raise many iconic structures in the UAE.
“This partnership, which has seen the test of time, has been mutually beneficial for both GGE and Unimix and we are truly proud of it,” says a spokesman for the Sharjah-based GGE.
Established in 1974, GGE has always taken a proactive approach in the market, bringing in the most innovative and modern construction equipment to the technology-driven construction sector of the UAE, he says.
The company, which operates from its head office in Sharjah, has a service workshop and showrooms located in the industrial area. GGE has also opened up two branches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
GGE claims to have been among the first to import concrete pumps, plaster machines and other mortar pumps into the UAE.
“When GGE imported Putzmeister concrete pumps from Germany, the concept of pouring concrete with pumps was alien to this market,” the spokesman points out. “However, the initiative taken by the GGE has brought the market to a stage where it is unthinkable of placing concrete without a concrete pump.”
Today, GGE offers a package of first-class products, backed by the experience and technical know-how of Putzmeister, prompt and reliable after-sales service and well-equipped spare parts inventory. Putzmeister’s range includes concrete pumps, plaster/mortar machines, concrete distributor booms and pipeline systems/accessories.
Over the years, the company has acquired a number of agencies such as Liebherr Export of Germany, which is a leader in the field of concrete batching plants, truck mixers and concrete recycling plants. Such moves have enabled the firm to offer a complete range of concrete machinery for readymix companies and contractors.
Also within its portfolio of products are excavators and truck-mounted cranes from Atlas-Terex of Germany, which is a leading manufacturer of construction equipment. Besides hydraulic equipment supply and repair and testing facilities, the company also specialises in the supply of welding equipment/special welding electrodes, thermal spray equipment and consumables such as wires, powders, compounds, etc.
To support its sales activities, GGE has a very well-equipped workshop under the supervision of a qualified German engineer and his team of experienced personnel, which allows the company to carry out repairs/services of all kinds of construction-related machinery and manufacture various types of steel structures, the spokesman adds.
In response to growing market demand, the company also offers a rental service. Its hire fleet includes Atlas excavators, hydraulic breakers and other attachments; and Putzmeister stationary concrete pumps, special pumps for mixing and conveying/spraying materials such as plasters and renders, floor screed, dry materials and foam concrete.
GGE have further diversified, and now – in addition to Putzmeister, Liebherr and Atlas-Terex – it also represents the following reputed manufacturers:
Kinshofer (hydraulic block loading grabs); Probst (building material handling and laying systems); Vogel (lubricating systems); Rexroth Bosch Group, Hydromatik, Brueninghaus & others; Hydac (electronics, filters, accumulators, etc.); Meiller (hydraulic services-tippers); Gri-Tec of the Lincoln Group (special welding electrodes, rods and wires); Messer Cutting and Welding (metal cutting machines), Sulzer Metco (thermal coating technologies); and Multimetall (chemical metallurgical products).
GGE also represents the following welding machines and materials manufacturers in this region: Welding Alloys (automatic welding machines and consumables); Kemppi (welding machines); Haynes International (high-performance alloys); Deloro Stellite (cobalt alloys and plasma transferred arc machines); Felder (solders & fluxes); Ampco Metal Group US (non-ferrous welding consumables); Bug ‘O’ Systems of the US (automation in welding and cutting); and Abicor Binzel (tig and mig torches), among others.
