Leading Dubai-based false ceiling specialist Prefab Building Industries (PBI) has recently completed work on the fast-track Al Qasr Hotel of the Madinat Jumeirah Phase II – adding yet another prestigious project to its portfolio.

“Prefab is proud to have contributed to the Madinat Jumeirah, one of the most interesting and prominent landmarks in Dubai today,” says a company official. “It was a very challenging project for us and would not have been possible had it not been for the leadership and assistance from Al Habtoor-Murray and Roberts (HMR) and Mirage Mille. The major challenges included the time constraint, the use of a variety of GRC (glass-reinforced concrete) panels and the restricted access at the workplace due to the water canals surrounding the development.’’
“We had a permanent workforce of two project managers, six engineers, two designers, a quality control engineer, a planning engineer and 180 workers, who were present on the site full-time. Our production and processing facilities were working 24-hour shifts to keep up with the demands of the massive project. The programme was very stringent and detailed, leaving no place for error due to the follow-on trades and activities. However, we have been fortunate to finish this project to the full expectation of our valued client,” he adds.
PBI, which produces GRC, GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) and GRG (glass-reinforced gypsum) panels, was established in 1985 with a small team of 20 specialised craftsmen and has grown into a dynamic multi-activity company with a workforce of nearly 650. It has an impressive list of projects to its credit and is associated with many new projects that are coming up in the near future. “This growth  directly reflects our commitment to providing the construction industry with specialised and high-quality products and services,” he says.
