Work on a BD4 million ($10.6 million) block of serviced apartments, to be built within the Gulf Hotel complex in Bahrain, will start by July, say hotel officials.
“The development project will reinforce the current status of the Gulf Hotel as the biggest hotel property in Bahrain, with 360 rooms, a convention and exhibition centre, huge recreation area and 11 outlets,” said company chairman Farouk Almoayyed.
The announcement marked the contract signing between Bahrain Hotels Company (BHC) and Adel Ahmadi Associates, as consultant and designer of the development. Construction of the 15-storey building that will house a total of 101 apartments, consisting of one, two or three bedrooms, is expected to be completed in 18 months.
Each of the five-star serviced apartments will be fully equipped and the new building will be conveniently located in what is now the garden leading to the Pearl Suite function room. A glass-enclosed atrium will connect the apartment building to the South Wing building. The apartments range from 95 sq m for a one-bedroom and 145 sq m for a three-bedroom flat. There are also options to connect a single-bedroom apartment with two or three-bedroom apartments. The overall area of the tower is 15,000 sq m.
