The US Fifth Fleet held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility in Bahrain called the P-911 Installation Service Support Centre (ISSC) during the recent visit of US Navy secretary Gordon England.
The ISSC, being built within the Naval Support Activity (NSA) complex, will be a two-storey 188,000 sq ft building that will combine numerous outlets into one force-protected facility. Overall, it will accomodate operations currently housed in more than 20 buildings and cost nearly $26 million to build.
It will house NSA Bahrain’s ship’s store, post office, food courts, the Oasis clubs and Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) offices. The facility is expected to be completed by February 2006.
