Bader Trading Company, which undertook insulation and waterproofing works for the Seef Tower, claims to have pioneered the use of polyurethane foam insulation in Bahrain.
Established in 1983, Bader is today a leading insulation and waterproofing contractor and enjoys the confidence of its customers.
''Bader was the first to introduce polyurethane foam - considered the best material for heat insulation - in Bahrain in 1985," says managing director Fareed Bader. "Since then, the systems have been modified to suit the local requirements. As part of these improvements, Bader Trading Company was the first to introduce a chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-free polyurethane insulation system in the country in 1999.''
Apart from polyurethane foam, the company has developed several other systems which offer both insulation and waterproofing properties using a combination of polystyrene board insulation, lightweight screed and Italian waterproofing membrane.
Systems are also custom-designed to suit individual requirements of projects.
Elaborating on work performed on the Seef Tower, general manager Johny Koithara says: ''Our scope of works covered the roof of the tower, restaurant roof and retaining area, involving a total area of 1,400 sq m. For these areas, a system comprising 50 mm polyurethane foam insulation, Rooftex elastomeric coating and Alyaf non-woven polyester separation layer followed by screed and a solar reflective coating has been used.
''We were also responsible for waterproofing of wet areas and machine rooms where a torch-applied bitumen membrane manufactured by General Membrane, Italy, has been installed over an area of 900 sq m.''
Bader Trading, backed by modern facilities and experienced engineers, is capable of undertaking any type of insulation and waterproofing project, Koithara says. A team of trained engineers and workforce, headed by contracts manager P K Paul, makes every effort to ensure that projects are completed to the satisfaction of clients.
Bader's suppliers of quality products are based in the UK, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia and the UAE and provide the firm with full technical support for its projects.
