
HSBC Bank Middle East Qatar has opened the HSBC Tower, its new $10 million headquarters on Abdulla bin Jassim Street in Doha. The new facility overlooking the Corniche is located 100 m away from the bank's existing main office building and comprises a basement and six floors.
$39 million Sur hospital complete
Sur: The RO15 million ($39 million) Sur referral hospital project in Oman, built on an area of 20,000 sq m in Sharqiya, has been completed and handed over to the Health Ministry.
Work begins on Crystal Towers
Sharjah: Construction work has started on the multi-million-dirham Crystal Towers, a commercial and residential complex, off Khalid Lagoon near the Central Market in Sharjah, UAE.
The project, which a built-up area of 85,164 sq m, will comprise two 17-floor residential towers and a third tower for commercial purposes with 68 offices.
The project will include a shopping mall to occupy 10,234 sq m area on the ground floor. The mezzanine floor will contain 44 shops, a showroom, a health club, fitness rooms for women and men and swimming pool. The first floor will also hold 44 shops, in addition to a large showroom. The second floor will accommodate a number of restaurants and fast-food outlets.
Expo Centre construction under way
Sharjah: Civil work is currently under way on the new Dh120 million ($32.67 million) Expo Centre complex in Sharjah, UAE, which is planned to be completed by 2001.
50 houses for flood-hit complete
Fujairah: The second lot of 50 houses, out of the 200 new units ordered to be built for flood-affected villagers of Al Qurrayah in Fujairah, UAE, has been completed. This batch was completed at a cost of Dh22 million ($6 million), said Obeid Mohammed Al Taffaq, manager of the follow-up department.
Abu Dhabi complex getting ready
Abu Dhabi: A large leisure centre including a nine-screen cineplex is expected to open in Abu Dhabi, UAE, shortly. The cinema, with a capacity to accommodate 2,200 people, is expected to open by the end of February. The cineplex is being built on the site of the capital's first movie theatre, the open-air Al Mariah.
Gulf Film, which is instrumental in setting up the cineplex in Abu Dhabi, is also working on another large cineplex in Dubai with a 10-screen complex offering 2,600 seating capacity. The Dubai cineplex is scheduled to open by April.
