Demag, a leading cranes brand that is now part of the Tadano Group, says its AC 45 City is the most compact crane in the 45-tonne capacity class, with a length of 8.69 m, a width of 2.55 m, and a height of 3.16 m.
In addition, its carrier length of only 7.2 m makes it best-in-class in this category as well, it adds.
With its short base boom of just 7.8 m and options like the boom head traverse for increased lifting heights, the AC 45 City crane is able to work in buildings with a relatively low clearance while still keeping its boom at a steep angle, enabling it to lift heavy loads indoors, a spokesman for the company says.
However, the benefits of this crane don’t end there, according to him.
With the IC-1 Plus control system, the lifting capacity for a specific radius is no longer limited to the lowest value for a pre-calculated 360-degree lifting capacity. The crane can always take full advantage of the maximum available lifting capacity.
“The IC-1 Plus control system adds additional value to your crane as it increases flexibility and enables it to perform more jobs. Based on the field-proven IC-1 control system, standard on all Demag cranes, the system offers efficient and intuitive touchscreen operation and stores all load charts,” the spokesman points out.
Also with Flex Base, its stepless variable outrigger system, the AC 45 City is additionally able to work with any outrigger configuration with continuously variable adjustments, making it possible to take full advantage of all the lifting capacity available, he adds.
“Together with the IC-1 Plus control system, the Demag crane is able to work with asymmetric and infinite outrigger positioning, meaning that the AC 45 City can be perfectly adjusted for all space conditions and load requirements within the crane’s lifting capacity,” the spokesman elaborates.
The three-axle unit does not weigh more than 34 tonnes even when outfitted with its full equipment, meaning that it remains significantly under the 12-tonne axle load limit and accordingly can get to work without the need for any additional transport vehicles. And when using a reduced counterweight, the crane even falls below the 10-tonne limit, he adds.
Upon request, the AC 45 City is available with an electro-hydraulic E-Pack that makes quiet, zero-emission crane operation possible thanks to an integrated 32-kW electric motor.
Potential applications include indoor projects, as well as those in dense urban areas, and projects at night in residential areas in which running the crane with the 260-kW diesel engine (EU Stage V/Tier 4f / ECE R96) is not possible.
“The new unit not only enables the AC 45 City to work in crane operation with zero emissions, but also makes it significantly quieter. Hence, using the crane with the optional E-Pack is particularly recommended for buildings, city centre, and night-time assignments in residential areas,” the spokesman concludes.
