HEMPEL, one of the world’s largest, independent suppliers of decorative, marine and protective coatings, recently launched in Oman an efficient solution for passive fire protection of steel structures.
The launch of Hempacore brand of intumescent coatings, which consists of protective coatings including fire and corrosion protection, aims to support the company’s aggressive expansion plans in Oman.
The range has been approved by various international certifying agencies.
The flexible and durable Hempacore intumescent coatings are designed to offer protection to steel structures for upto 120 minutes, said Lars Risum, Hempel Group’s business development manager for intumescent coatings, during a presentation at the launch in Muscat.
Risum said Hempacore is a perfect solution for in-shop and on-site applications as it can be applied at a dry film thickness (DFT) of upto 1,500 microns in a single coat thus providing flexibility and helping to optimise application on every project type.
Jacob Kuruvilla, Hempel’s country manager for Oman, said: “The launch of the Hempacore range of intumescent paint further strengthens Hempel’s competitive edge as the preferred protective coatings brand in Oman as customers have now been provided with the opportunity of having both high-performance corrosion and fire-protection coating systems from a reliable supplier.”
Hempacore One and Hempacore One FD offer core benefits and set new standards for acrylic-based intumescent. Both are tailor-made to offer increased application productivity, fire performance and long-term reliability. The Hempacore range is approved to the European standard EN13381-8 and has also been launched in other countries including Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Belgium.
