GERMAN engineering specialist weiler is now offering a complete precast concrete plant package which will be promoted at two major construction exhibitions in the region this month – Project Qatar in Doha, Qatar, and Buildex Damascus in Syria.
Marketed under the name of Rheinland concrete building systems, they are said to incorporate the latest, innovative, and independent technical developments and are particularly suitable for:
• Low-cost, mass housing construction as required by municipalities and governments;
• Multi-storey townhouses and apartment blocks;
• High-rise buildings with concrete frame structures;
• Shopping centres and parking garages;
• Schools and hospitals; and
• Industrial buildings and warehouses.
The system has been developed to meet the demands of the global construction market.
“weiler has come a long way from a mere machine builder to a provider of complete precast concrete plants,” says a company spokesman.
He continues: “With an engineering consulting team led by its owner Matthias Holzberger, the company – which has been in the business for the last five years – has become a provider of turnkey production systems for prestressed concrete elements that are aligned to specific construction projects.
“Since this business area has grown considerably and demand has increased, the management and, especially the development department, have been restructured to keep pace with world market changes.
“These efforts have resulted in the development of Rheinland concrete building systems. This modular construction system for prefabricated concrete elements of vast architectural diversity are produced by weiler’s engineering teams.”
Using this system, the company can guarantee the highest possible cost-efficiency in production, and the best and most durable quality, and at the same time high application variability, says the spokesman.
Rheinland concrete building systems are manufactured using weiler machinery in turnkey precast plants, for example comprising weilerslipformer production lines and/or MAXtruder systems for the production of slabs and beams; and tilting tables and battery moulds (formwork) for the production of wall panels, formwork for stairs, beams, columns and foundations, as well as automatic concrete mixing plants and concrete distribution. These systems can be part of a fully-integrated plant, adapted to the individual project.
The system caters to the growing use of precast elements in construction to achieve cost and construction efficiency and greater quality control.
“The use of hollowcore slabs for floors, walls and ceilings in combination with additional supporting cross walls, columns and beams, provides substantial economic benefits such as raw material savings of up to 50 per cent, lighter foundations and support through reduced weight,” the spokesman points out.
“Additional benefits are achieved by using vertical wall hollowcore slabs that are connected with each other in a ring by means of steel bars and anchored in an extremely solid foundation framework. These form an integrated network anchor, which is required to obtain permits and thus, achieving a monolithic seismic or earthquake-proof slab,” he adds.
Rheinland concrete building systems are said to offer long-lasting benefits based on more than 40 years of experience in different weiler projects.
“The focus is not only on cost-efficient manufacturing, low labour costs and best possible return on investments, but also on low consumption of raw materials and energy, careful use of natural resources and on cost reduction as a result of recycling during production,” says the spokesman.
Worldwide, weiler has established more than 200 turnkey production lines and individual machines. Mostly, these have been tailor-made solutions for special projects and production facilities. “While doing so, weiler as well as Rheinland systems apply only the highest German quality standards as the basis,” he says.
These include carefully selected steel grades and German premium quality components – such as Bosch, Siemens, SEW, and SKF – according to German quality criteria in its production facilities near Frankfurt.
weiler security concepts and certification are controlled according DIN, TUV and GS standards. Furthermore, spare parts service and availability are guaranteed by weiler for years, he adds.
Weiler will be at Stand H2/B43 at Project Qatar, which is being held from May 2 to 5, and at Stand H91/A14 at Buildex Damascus, which runs from May 12 to 16.
