THE newly upgraded Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia has become operational with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) shifting flight operations to the newly-constructed terminal, the local Arab News newspaper reported.
Tabuk airport, which was modernised and expanded with panoramic front designs and new runways at a cost of SR242 million ($64.53 million), is one of the kingdom’s new-generation airports. The project, which covered renovation of 18 buildings and construction of a new terminal, is expected to boost the growth of the Tabuk province.
The airport is now open to international flights and the GACA is studying applications from three international airlines — FlyDubai, AlMasria Universal and Nile Air, the report added.
The airport will receive 77 flights weekly from 11 airports in the kingdom, the report said, quoting the GACA.
