
THE Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has declared the Istanbul Sapphire, designed by Tabanlioglu Architects of Turkey, as the 15th tallest building in the world.
The contemporary icon of the city, which was inaugurated by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, is 261 m tall.
CTBUH presented an Overview of Tall Building Construction in 2010 with an in-depth study of 20 tallest buildings completed in that year. It also announced 2010 as The Most Successful Year of Skyscraper Completion in History.
