SAMSUNG Electronics, a leading manufacturer in the split and window air-conditioners segment, has made a foray into the system air-conditioner business in the region with the recent launch of commercial air-conditioning products that have been developed for that market.

The company recently unveiled the ducted split type (side and top discharge outdoor units), cassette type, and digital variable multi (DVM) systems in Dubai, UAE.
Commenting on the products, Sang Yoon Kim, general manager of the Digital Appliances Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, says: “Samsung commercial air-conditioners have been developed for the Middle East market to bring optimum solutions to customers with its aerodynamically-optimised design.”
Samsung offers a choice of commercial air-conditioners in ducted split and cassette-type units, with capacities ranging from of 18,000 to 72,000 Btu/hr.
They consists of side and top discharge units, in the former category; and 18,000 to 48,000 Btu/hr capacity units in the cassette type.
Among these, Samsung’s top discharge outdoor unit provides greater flexibility for installation, as it allows the longest length of piping, of 50 m, between indoor and outdoor units.
“Furthermore, it occupies the lowest installation space, with its footprint area being 43 per cent smaller than similar-capacity outdoor units of competitors,” states Kim.
“In addition, Samsung’s top discharge outdoor unit can be adapted to a flare-type connection. As a result, it doesn’t require welding when it is installed. Because of its flare-type service valve, installation time is faster than the welding type and does not leave any impurities and oxide in the pipe brought on by welding,” says Kim.
The ducted split air-conditioners are equipped with a static pressure control to ensure efficiency and silent operation.
All units in this category also come with an anti-bacterial filter system that traps dust particles and hinders the proliferation of moulds and bacteria, thus providing cleaner and healthier air.
Kim continues: “Recently, Samsung announced that the commercial air-conditioning business would be one of the eight major future growth engines. To achieve leadership in the market, Samsung will continuously invest in this business in terms of research and development, which will provide superior technology and quality to customers.”
In addition to the above-mentioned products, Samsung also intends to launch the Tropical DVM Plus III on the Middle East market next year.
The DVM Plus III is a module multi-system air-conditioner that has the world’s largest capacity (8 to 64 hp) with the application of a digital vapour injection (DVI) compressor, and can connect up to 64 indoor units regardless of the type of indoor unit.
This system boasts the highest COP (coefficient of performance) levels, a more compact size with a larger capacity, greater flexibility for installation, with piping being up to 220 m between the indoor and outdoor units.
Samsung Electronics Company is a global leader in semi-conductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies, and has been recognised as one of the fastest growing global brands.
The company consists of two main business units – digital media and communications, and device solutions. Its products include digital TVs, memory chips, mobile phones and TFT-LCDs.
