Construction of the 23.5-million-sq-ft Remraam community in Dubailand is progressing with concrete being poured for the building foundations.
Remraam is one of four developments being undertaken at Dubailand by Mizin, the real estate development arm of Tatweer.
The current phase of construction involves building of the sub- and super-structure of the 198 buildings within the community. The development is projected to have more than 15,000 construction workers and engineers, making Remraam one of the largest construction sites in the UAE.
The volume of concrete required for the foundations alone is equivalent to 1 million cu m, enough to fill 400 Olympic-sized pools.
Ahmad Sharaf, CEO of Tatweer Investments, said: “Residential projects of this magnitude require an advanced level of expertise and strict adherence to high standards of build quality. Timely construction in accordance with these standards and expertise is a reflection of Mizin’s commitment towards delivering on its promises and elevating the current norms within the industry.”
Under contracts valued at Dh6 billion ($1.63 billion), Dubai Civil Engineering, Al Ghafly General Contracting and Parkway International have been selected by Mizin to work simultaneously on several stages of construction across the four phases of the Remraam project.
Remraam is Mizin’s fourth development, following the launch of three communities within Dubailand – the 13 million sq ft Liwan, the 20-million-sq-ft Arjan, and the 16.5-million-sq-ft Majan developments.
Meanwhile, Mizin has awarded Phase Two infrastructure works on Liwan, Arjan and Majan. The contracts, worth several million dirhams, have been awarded to Bin Ladin Construction and Emirates Roads Contracting (ERC).
Following the completion of Phase One infrastructure works – which included the installation of multi-lane road systems and street lighting – Phase Two involves the construction of networks for water, power supply, irrigation facilities, sewerage and drainage, as well as the telecommunications infrastructure, across the combined area of almost 50 million sq ft. It will also ensure the creation of sidewalks and pathways, with landscaped areas.
Upon completion, these three developments will house more than 187,000 residents.
