Italy-based Lowara, a leader in the manufacture of hydraulic pumps and water handling and control systems and part of the ITT Corporation, has introduced an efficient new grinder pump, which, says the company, is set to clean sweep the residential sewage market.
The new Domo GRI has been designed to deliver domestic sewage, liquids containing solids or fibres, and wastewater from residential buildings to the sewer mains or a pressurised sewer network.
Explaining the attributes of the new pump, a company spokesperson says: “Constructors face a number of challenges for which Domo GRI is the ideal solution. The pump comes into its own in farm areas, small villages and homes built in remote areas where the conventional gravity sewage network is too expensive to commission.
“The pumps are particularly effective where the sewer mains is located at a high level or where the ground level is variable. It is also a cost-effective option where the flow of the sewage is seasonal, such as in holiday homes and camping grounds.”
Domo GRI features a new, extremely efficient and highly reliable grinder system. “The grinder is able to macerate all the solids present in the sewage into small pieces, which are able to pass through the pump impeller and smaller discharge pipes,” the spokesperson elaborates. “Hence, not only is the risk of clogging or blockage extremely low but also contractors are able to minimize investment costs by using smaller pipes.”
“In addition, the grinder system is easily replaceable to ensure that any downtime is minimised and that maintenance is easy and quick.”
Commenting on the quality of Lowara’s pumps, the spokesperson says: “Lowara guarantees high quality, reliable, cost-effective pumping systems, which maximise efficiency in order to optimally satisfy the customer’s needs. They are manufactured in AISI 304 and AISI 316 fabricated stainless steel, and are suited for many applications, ranging from water to some chemical compositions.”
Lowara has 1,348 employees working in Europe, with 771 of them employed in Italy. In 2007, its consolidated sales totalled about €284 million ($363 million).
