AMATRAD of the UK has announced the launch of materials which it claims replace asbestos in construction and allied fields.
The materials known as VTECS has application for insulation, fire doors, filing cabinets and fire containment.
"These materials far exceed the performance of any other similar product on the market today. They can be moulded to create any design of any product - aesthetically and practically. They are non-toxic, load-bearing and non-combustible," claims John Wilson of the company's technical department.
"Its unique formula, which refracts heat in excess of 2,000 deg F without combustion, lethal smoke/fumes or breakdown, can also save lives," he says.
These materials can be made with unskilled labour using a world-abundant aggregate, in huge quantities, quickly, cheaply and easily, he says.
"Amatrad has been actively researching, testing and improving this technology for the past 20 years. We are now offering VTECS worldwide and are confident that our patented technologies are set to revolutionise the world of construction, fire containment, manufacture, insulation and soundproofing," adds Wilson.
