Jotun Abu Dhabi has been scooping the cream of painting contracts in Abu Dhabi, on major projects like the emirate's new trade centre, a seven-star hotel and a major twin-tower corporate headquarters. 

"We won these contracts thanks to the sound reputation we have built over more than a quarter of a century, since we started production in the UAE in 1974," says Jotun Abu Dhabi marketing manager Hamid Kariem.
Covering a vast area of 247 acres across the capital's waterfront, the $400 million Conference Palace Hotel will be the second seven-star hotel in the world and the most prestigious building of its kind in Abu Dhabi.
The hotel, which will feature a natural stone finish, is scheduled for completion in 2004. It will initially be used to stage the GCC leaders' summit in 2005 and opened to the public thereafter.
Jotun's work on the hotel covered various packages, and it supplied Durosan acrylic emulsion paints covering an area of 70,000 sq m, Fenomastic wall finishes (100,000 sq m) and Bengalac alkyd-based undercoats and finish coats (100,000 sq m).
The Abu Dhabi Trade Centre is a 200,000 sq m downtown redevelopment that includes two 14-storey office towers, a 13-storey fully-serviced apartment tower, a shopping centre comprising over 300 retail units, restaurants, Cineplex, family entertainment area, ballroom, car parking facility and a 13-storey extension to the existing Beach Hotel.
The $300 million facility is situated on a premium site overlooking the sea.
For the Abu Dhabi Trade Centre project, Jotun has been supplying its high-quality Fenomastic coatings over an area of approx 500,000 sq m.
The twin towers project is for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) headquarters and consists of two 26-storey towers constructed above the multi-storey car park facility provided for the two existing 20-storey office towers.ÿ
The estimated Dh250 million Adnoc Twin Towers  project lies on the Abu Dhabi Corniche and is being executed by a joint venture of Al Habtoor Engineering-Murray & Roberts.
For the project, Jotun is supplying its Fenomastic Gardex, a high-quality alkyd enamel, Epoxy coatings and, Jotashield Tex Ultra for the entire project.

The Abu Dhabi operation has had the distinction of twice winning the Shaikh Khalifa Award for Excellence (Diamond catergory) which is presented by the General Industry Corporation (GIC) and has ISO-9001 accreditation.
"Understanding the needs of the customer and satisfying them in the most innovative way has been Jotun Abu Dhabi's policy," Kariem points out.
Jotun has also blazed a new trail with its concept of 'single brand shops' to market its products.  "We have five such shops in Abu Dhabi City, one in Mussaffah Industrial Area, one in Madina Zayed City, four in Al Ain City,and plans are afoot to open more," says Kariem.
Jotun's Multicolor tinting systems are well-known throughout the world and its Abu Dhabi office recently became the first in the region to provide tinting for protective paints.
Multicolor offers more than 16,000 different shades at a press of a button and there are 11 such centres in the emirate of Abu Dhabi offering customers specialised decorative painting techniques which involve applying one or more colours over a different colour (undercoat), creating a multi-coloured or textured effect.
"Using different painting techniques you can achieve dramatic, dazzling, crumbly and soft effects depending on your choice of colour and technique," says Kariem.
The package of services comes with a colour adviser and a scanner, which gives clients a preview of their home in different colour combinations on a computer screen.
Major projects which have used  Jotun architectural paints in Abu Dhabi include the Marina Mall, Baynunah Tower, Adma-Opco (Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company) headquarters, Armed Forces Club, Meridien Hotel and the headquarters for Adco (Abu Dhabi Oil Company), NDC (National Drilling Company), Adnoc-Fod (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company For Distribution), Zadco-Gasco and Etisalat (Emirates Telecommunications Corporation).
Its anti-corrosive coatings protect the third LNG train for Adgas (Das Island) and the Onshore Gas Development project for Adnoc (Habshan), among a range of other facilities.
