Al Wasit Machinery, the sole distributor of Sumitomo Construction Equipment in the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Iran, introduced the new Sumitomo SH210-5 excavator at the Conmex construction equipment and machinery show in Sharjah and Big 5 PMV exhibition in Dubai, in the UAE during last November.
The new excavator, according to Al Wasit Machinery, has received an excellent customer acceptance in the region, as is evident from the sales during the last three months.
"Reliable performance record is synonymous with the name Sumitomo, for the excavators they manufacture,” says Al Wasit Machinery’s marketing manager Ninan M George. “In fact,” he continues, “they boast that the complete product line is manufactured and assembled only in Japan, ensuring their customers of utmost satisfaction on the product quality, reliability and technology.”
The new Sumitomo SH 210-5 is a well-packaged machine that offers higher productivity with lower fuel consumption which is the best in the 20-tonne class, according to him.
The most striking improvement in the model is the perfect design of the cab with excellent visibility, well laid-out gauges and instruments and ample space. The noise level in the cab is as low as 68.5 dBA, says George.
Its new SIHS (Sumitomo Intelligent Hydraulic System) prioritises the flow of oil to certain cylinders, depending on the job application which contributes to the productivity, he states.
Other major improvements include an eight per cent increase in bucket digging force, a 24 per cent increase in closing speed and a seven percent increase in speed under heavy excavation load.
Moreover, SH210-5 comes with the latest Isuzu engine, AI-4HK1X, which complies with the EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage 3A exhaust emission standards and hence proves more environment-friendly, according to him.
"Maintenance is made much simpler by introducing the high-performance return filter, thus extending the hydraulic oil life to 5,000 hours. The EMS (Easy Maintenance System) enables greasing to be carried out only 250 hours for bucket points and 1,000 hours for other sectors. All the service points to the engine are at eye-level or below, which enables easier access from ground level for daily routine maintenance,” George points out.
Sumitomo Heavy Industries started production of excavators in Japan in 1964 and it now distributes Sumitomo excavators all over the world. Its production ranges from the 8,000 kg class at the lower end and extends up to 81,000 kg class.
Sumitomo’s wide range of excavators including SH 800LHD-3B with an operating weight of 81 tonnes – the highest in its class and a favourite model of the quarry industry – is sold and serviced at all Al Wasit branches in the region.
Headquartered in Sharjah with branches in Dubai, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Oman and Qatar, the Al Wasit group has made a mark for itself as a leading supplier of new, used and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) spare parts to the GCC countries, Yemen, Africa and the Middle East.
