The World ... nearing completion.

New imagery reveals The World
Nakheel has recently released a satellite image of The World project, which has revealed the extent of completed works on the ambitious project.

The image reveals that all the islands and the breakwater that make up the man-made archipelago of 300 islands in the shape of a world map, currently being built off the coast of Dubai, have now been reclaimed to an extent that they create an almost-perfect representation of the world map. Reclamation is scheduled for completion by the year end.

Multiforms wins $47m Arabtec deal
Multiforms, an architectural façade specialist, has won a contract worth Dh175 million ($47.65 million) from leading contracting company Arabtec.
Under the deal, the company will supply and install external cladding for Tiara United, a first-of-its-kind two-tower project on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
Multiforms, a subsidiary of Emaar Industries and Investments, will create four uniquely coloured zones that blend into one another as the building ascends, in imitation of the light spectrum. The façade work will have an organic feel to it, similar to the veins on a leaf.
The glass cladding for the buildings, which is set to be complete in 2010, will cover over 45,000 sq m. The twin towers are slated for commercial use and will rise up to 61 floors, affording an additional 350,000 sq ft of office space.

Tabreed wins 7,600 TR cool deals
Tabreed has entered into 20-year deals with three companies for the supply of a total of 7,600 tons of refrigeration (TR).
These include a 4,100 TR project for Hotel Jal Tower and a 2,300 TR for a mixed-use development with Aerated Concrete Industries Company. Both these projects, in Dubai, will be supplied from the Sheikh Zayed cooling plant.
The third win is a 1,200 TR Etihad Complex development in Abu Dhabi which will be supplied from the Al Raha Gardens cooling plant.
