DWC Commercial City, the business and commercial capital of Dubai World Central (DWC) has recently finalised its masterplan that incorporates the best of city planning processes from around the world.

Broadway Malyan, a UK-based leading international architectural and integrated design practice has partnered DWC in creating a world-class urban city design with new offerings, says a spokesman for the developer.
“The city will act as the nerve centre for DWC once the new Dubai World Central International Airport – set to be the world’s largest – gets fully operational in 2015,” says Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Aviation Corporation – Dubai World Central.
“The masterplanning process involved specialists, including urban designers, masterplanners, town planners, landscape architects, regeneration and sustainability consultants, and interior designers who studied top cities like New York, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong among others,” he adds.
DWC Commercial City’s eight zones will cater to all lifestyle amenities and will not be just a destination for work and residence. The Urban Village will have a mid- to high-end, low-density destination, complete with sport and leisure clubs, and ample open spaces while the Lake District’s community hub will cater to retail, leisure and office destinations based on a lakeside environment. The Seven Towers zone will be a landmark, including a 2 km park with retail and leisure provisions, in addition to two transit stations.
These eight zones are separated into several districts, including business, residential and leisure. To cater to the huge population of 450,000 working and living there, several transit roads will be developed, which will also include the Dubai Metro.
As part of the UAE’s overall strategic plan, DWC Commercial City will also be one of the main stations for the future Emirates Express Train, linking all of the Emirates together, and in the future to the GCC countries.
