The Grand Mosque in Makkah is undergoing expansion and renovation of its facilities that will facilitate the movement of pilgrims.

Staircases, 14 m wide, are being built between Al-Mas’a and the Al Qararah escalators to facilitate worshippers’ movement, according to officials involved in the work.
Some of the slopes for the use of physically challenged people in the northern courtyard are being renovated, 113 more shelves for keeping the Holy Qur'an are being installed on the columns of the ground and first floors. Courtyard pipes are also being replaced while entrances to escalators for the bus parking area in the western courtyard are being expanded.
Other projects to be implemented include air conditioning, the expansion of the Mas’a area, and the construction of a building for training and managerial development.
