The new TCM FD-G 3.5 to 5.0-tonne forklifts boast breakthrough features for operator comfort and clean air, says Aljomaih Equipment Company, the agent in Saudi Arabia for the forklift’s Japanese manufacturer TCM.

The six-cylinder S6S diesel engine with lower vibration and more efficient combustion characteristics enhance driving comfort while considerably reducing air pollution, says a spokesman for the company.
“The environmentally-friendly diesel engine meets EU stage II, US EPA Tier 2 and JPN phase 2 emission control regulations. The engine adopting a new type of swirl chamber combustion system achieves cleaner exhaust. This engine is the core gear for this powerful forklift truck with rated output of 64.7 kW at 2,300 rpm and a maximum torque 284 Nm (29 KgFm) at 1,600 rpm,” he says.
The light touch lever operation of the system and an automatic transmission reduces driver’s fatigue while the electric shift control lever in torque converter models makes forward, neutral and reverse shifting operation much easier.
“Ample driver’s foot space, coupled with the wider floor and step spaces, lends comfortable access to the vehicle. In addition, the protective cover on the tilt cylinder enhances safety and comfort. A more powerful as well as cleaner engine, increased operator comfort, these are what you get from TCM,” he adds.
“The outstanding lifting speed of this new TCM series also enhances work efficiency. The FD35 and 40, for example, achieve 540 mm/s of lifting speed with load, as well as 550 mm/s of lowering speed without load. These remarkable performances largely improve efficiency of cargo handling,” says the spokesman.
“Powerful acceleration and quick start up also contribute to increasing operation efficiency. The torque converter truck model is equipped with an automatic transmission for shifting the first and the second gears. Smoother start-up and acceleration by two-speed transmission, as well as an automatic gear operation largely contribute to improved operation efficiency and remarkable performance at various work sites,” he adds.
Travel speed in torque converter models can be chosen from three modes to select the optimum traction – all that is required is a soft touch on the switch. For cargo handling, the operator may select either “H” or “M” mode, while the “L” mode is suitable for climbing slopes, says Abdullah S Al Ali, general manager of Aljomaih Equipment Company.
“An innovative aluminium radiator improves cooling capacity by 18 per cent, contributing to the engine’s longer life,” Al Ali concluded.
Aljomaih represents Iveco, Case New Holland, Merlo and Nardi of Italy, Claas and MTU of Germany, TCM and Tacom of Japan, Nokka Tume of Finland, Perkins of the UK, Arcusin of Spain, and the US-based Valmont Industries.
The firm sells a wide-range of generator sets and engines, wheel loaders, dozers and graders, concrete mixers, vibratory compactors and asphalt rollers, forklifts and telescopic handlers, marine container straddle carrier and agricultural equipment to the Saudi market.
