Specialist software solutions provider US-based Primavera Systems says its award-winning web-based project management software is currently being used by leading construction management firm Hill International for the planning and construction of the $2 billion City of Arabia project, a 20,000 sq km development in Dubai.
“This project is equivalent to building the city of Los Angeles in just three years. We employ firms in multiple locations around the world,” says Shawn Pressley, a project engineer at Hill International. “It is critical that our project management system provides a central location for project data that allows Hill personnel and our contractors across the globe to work collaboratively.”
Hill International provides programme, project and construction management and construction claims services and has more than 800 employees in 25 offices worldwide.
Using Primavera, project team members and executives at Hill International are able to access summary-level project data tailored to their individual roles. These customised role-based dashboards provide the Hill team with immediate project visibility and the ability to retrieve vital data with just one click. Managers are then able to identify and resolve potential issues before they negatively affect schedule or budget, he says.
“We are pleased that Hill International is using Primavera to manage the City of Arabia project,” says Joel Koppelman, CEO of Primavera. “Collaboration is extremely important to project success. Primavera ensures that everyone involved on a project – regardless of time and geography – will work together effectively toward on-time and on-budget project delivery.”
With an expected completion date of 2009, the City of Arabia will include the Mall of Arabia, the world’s largest mall, with leading brand-names and high-end stores from around the world; Wadi Walk, a waterfront, Venice-style complex with luxury apartments and shopping, Elite Towers, an exclusive 34 high-rise building complex located in the heart of Dubai and the Restless Planet, a prehistoric-themed park with roller coasters, robotic dinosaurs and other amusement facilities.
Primavera is a software company whose clients depend on its project, resource and portfolio management solutions to identify which projects are most important and to make it easy for people to work collaboratively, productively and successfully.
As the industry standard in construction and engineering for more than 20 years, Primavera solutions are being used by general contractors and subcontractors as well as public and private owners to improve scheduling and planning, negotiate change, and increase collaboration to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on budget. Primavera solutions have ensured the success of projects collectively worth more than $5.5 trillion, including the management of the Pentagon reconstruction, construction of China’s Three Gorges Dam and the infrastructure development of the London underground transit system.
