Voltas bags Bahrain City Centre deal

City Centre ... major M&E contract for Voltas.

Indian company Voltas, under the Tata Group, has won a BD40 million ($106 million) electromechanical contract for the Bahrain City Centre, being built on Manama coast.
This is one of the biggest electromechanical projects ever undertaken in Bahrain.

A pool of skilled and dedicated experts from Voltas has been deployed in Bahrain for the task.
The work will involve more than 1,500 workers and will be completed in June 2008, said a company spokesman.
“One third of the workforce will be from India, and the remaining will be deployed by various subcontractors,” he added.
The main contractor is Cebarco-WCT, which carried out the Bahrain International Circuit project.
This is the third major job being undertaken by Voltas in Bahrain. During 1988-1996, it carried out electromechanical jobs worth BD10 million for Bahrain International Airport in three phases.
Another contract worth BD1.5 million for Seef Mall was carried out by Bemco, which was Voltas' joint venture with another Bahraini firm.
