Last year’s Intersec ... strong participation.

Intersec Middle East, the region’s leading trade fair for commercial security, fire, safety and health and police and homeland security will be focusing on tackling work-related accidents with training, communication and implementation seen as key steps to site safety.

The event is scheduled to take place next January (21to 23) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE.
The exhibition will embody four specialised segments that cover every aspect and issue within the fields of security and safety:
• Commercial Security Middle East has been created to address the growing importance of security systems and technologies for new projects in the Middle East;
• Police and Homeland Security Middle East focuses on providing new insights on border control, anti-terrorism, command control, policing equipment, airport security, and forensics, to name a few areas of specialization;
• Fire Middle East, in cooperation with the Dubai Civil Defence, aims to create awareness of fire fighting and fire prevention; and,
• Safety and Health Middle East that is supported by the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) UK, aims to provide overviews and solutions on health and safety issues in the Middle East.
Intersec has established a new media co-operation facility and extended its existing partnership with Dubai Civil Defence to create a regionwide platform for fire and safety professionals. Dubai Police will also continue to support the police section and the IOSH will support the safety sector at next years show.
Messe Frankfurt, the organiser, is expecting 600 exhibitors from at least 40 countries. Exhibitors already signed up for Safety and Health Middle East are MSA, an international leader within the field of safety products; Lakeland Industries, which specialises in protective clothing; Bacou Dalloz, an expert in protective equipment; Cofra, which is a leading manufacturer of safety footwear; and JSP, which focuses on personal protective equipment under an ISO 9002 quality system.
Commenting on the defence and security sector in the region, a spokesman for Messe Frankfurt says: “Over the past eight years, the GCC has spent a staggering $277 billion on defence and security. This amount accounts for approx 12.7 per cent of their GDP, the highest ratio in the world. The projected growth of the security systems and equipment market, especially for safety, within the UAE is estimated to be 25 per cent per annum over the next five years.”
Building on the tremendous success and impact of the past conferences, Intersec Middle East will host international conferences on January 21 and 22 January covering police, fire, and safety and health topics. The speakers – all top-class international and regional experts – will present topical papers that include homeland security and global policing issues, planning for disasters, advanced techniques for casualty extrication from road traffic accidents, advances in fire safety technology, urban search and rescue and fire engineering in high-rise towers and a range of safety and health subjects relevant to the Middle East.
Dubai Civil Defence part of the UAE Ministry of Interior will also provide speakers for the Intersec conferences. They will bring to light the latest safety regulations in the region.
“Intersec offers incredible potential for international exhibitors to gauge interest with buyers and decision-makers from the private and the governmental sectors in the UAE. Furthermore exhibitors have the chance to meet local distributors at Intersec who are looking for suppliers and new brands for their product portfolio,” says a spokesman for Messe Frankfurt.
