Hansgrohe ... anti-bacterial shower hoses.

Hansgrohe, a global leader in sanitary engineering and manufacturing, has recently launched a range of anti-bacterial shower hoses in the Middle East.

The company says it was the first to introduce anti-bacterial shower hoses in Europe, and the product has gained instant popularity.
“The new product, which will revolutionise the sanitary industry in the Middle East, has been designed in accordance with the German Federal Health Agency requirement for the application of plastics in potable water pipe,” says Holger Ruf, marketing and communications manager, Hansgrohe Group, Middle East, Africa and India.
“The new anti-bacterial plastic shower hoses offer effective protection against harmful micro-organisms and will mark a new era in hygiene in the Middle East,” says Ruf.
He adds: “The hot climate and moisture in the region makes it particularly susceptible to the growth of microorganisms. Our plastic shower hoses – Novaflex and Isiflex – use the anti-bacterial quality of natural silver making them bacteria-resistant.
Explaining the technology he continues: “The company’s trademark Sanitised Silver technology involves the integration of silver ions into high-tech glass-ceramic. The positively charged silver ions, activated by the water flowing through the hose, give off a constant electrical charge (sanitized nano-flash technology), which destroys the cell membrane of any bacteria present and blocks their metabolic processes, making it impossible for them to reproduce. The uniform distribution of sanitised silver throughout the plastic of the shower hose ensures strong and lasting anti-bacterial effect on all the contact surfaces, both inside and outside.
“The positively charged silver ions have been proven to inhibit the growth of more than 25 strains of microbes – including coli form bacteria, salmonella, staphylococci, and the dangerous Legionella, which is quite wide-spread,” adds Holger.
The growth of microbes is especially high when the shower is not used for a while with water remaining in the shower hose. Water sample analyses have revealed that after eight days of use of the anti-bacterial shower hose, the germs have disappeared almost completely.
“Hansgrohe’s anti-bacterial shower hoses have set new standards of hygiene in the bathroom,” concludes Holger.
