Daikin - a leading Japanese air-conditioner manufacturer, which has been in the Saudi Arabia for almost two decades through its local supplier Abbar and Zainy - is keen on increasing its market share through the launch of innovative solutions and products.

Daikin recently launched its power-saver air-conditioning solution - Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) Plus - in the Saudi market and says that it has been well-received.
Says a spokesman for the Saudi-based Abbar and Zainy: "The latest version of the VRV Plus is the heat pump/heat recovery version which operates on the ozone-friendly refrigerant R407C. This high-capacity system for installations between 16 and 30 hp is the first available refrigerant flow system able to operate as many as 32 indoor units on a single refrigerant circuit.
"Introduced in Europe in 1998, the R-22 version of the VRV Plus system  - also in the heat pump and heat recovery format - offers up to three times the capacity compared to standard VRV.-
This system operates on a single refrigerant circuit, which significantly reduces the pipe work. VRV Plus is ideal for projects where space for the outdoor units is minimal, says the spokesman.
Explaining the benefits of the system, he adds: "While conventional systems condition the air in the building as a whole, the VRV system air-conditions each room individually and hence is ideal for buildings with constantly changing occupancy levels. The system goes a step further in user-friendliness by allowing precise level control that reacts to the exact conditions in each room. Individual control promotes a far more economical and efficient system.-
Thanks to an inverter circuit and precise microprocessor control, it is possible to change the frequency of the power supply and finely alter the rotational speed of the compressor, which is the heart of an air-conditioner, he says. Inverters quickly reach the required temperature and then finely adjust the power to maintain a constant temperature. Temperature swings are virtually eliminated and the operation of the unit is so much more efficient that an inverter uses around 33 per cent less electricity than a conventional unit.-
The use of Daikin 'super wiring' reduces installation costs by integrating the control and communication wiring into a single circuit. Apart from this, VRV Plus offers several benefits including:

  • Flexible connection from outdoor to indoor up to (100 m) with level difference of up to (50 m);
  • Wider operation range for -5 deg C (for heat pump) up to 50 deg C for the Gulf climate;
  • Possibility to connect 24 indoor units with one outdoor unit, with a wide range of indoor units models (50 types of 10 models);
  • Easy installation for single-circuit of pipes with capacity of 30 hp;
  • Efficient use of space for owners;
  • Low running cost;
  • Intelligent control system by using personal computer; and
  • Self-diagnostic function that allows for rapid fault detection, making maintenance very easy.

Says a spokesman for Daikin, "Despite our expertise in the fields of air-conditioning and chemistry, our work is far from limited to these two areas. Daikin's goal of improving quality of life has resulted in dynamic progress in every type of business the company has been involved in. In all our divisions, we continuously seek new applications for our skills, building on past successes for a vibrant tomorrow."
Daikin started operations more than 80 years ago. The company has been at the forefront of innovation and has been offering high-quality products that provide customers a complete range of air-conditioning solutions.
"Daikin has produced the most modern specification in various capacities, ozone-friendly R407c refrigeration and standard R22 series and inverter power control for great energy saving. The combination of comfort and economy is a direct result of using state-of the-art technology.
"Daikin has achieved the top share in the industrial market of Japan and is the first company in Japan that introduced the idea of packaged units way back in 1924. The company operates in all the continents and has put in place a strong distributor network that spans across the globe. It has set up industrial facilities in Japan, Thailand, China and Belgium, all of which have obtained ISO quality certificates as well as confirmation of its compliance to environment standards (ISO-14001).
Abbar and Zainy has been active in the Saudi market for more than 20 years, marketing Daikin products and providing after-sales service and spare parts for its equipment. The firm deals with the following Daikin products: Split units (wall or floor-mounted, cassette and ceiling suspended); energy-saving inverters; duct connections (low, middle and high static pressure); package units (heat pump/cooling only); multi indoor units system (up to a maximum of 24 indoor units) on one outdoor unit (VRV); advanced air-conditioning control system (intelligent manager); heat reclaim ventilation (HRV); and chilled water system (chiller).
Being the sole agent of Daikin in Saudi Arabia, Jeddah-headquartered Abbar and Zainy has put in place a wide network of eight offices - all of which offer sales and after-sales services. Besides Jeddah, these are located in Makkah; Madinah; Riyadh (regional office for central area); Qassim (central area subsidiary); Al Kharj (central area subsidiary); Dammam (regional office eastern area); Hasa (eastern area subsidiary) and Jizan.
