Uchiyama...good prospects.

Fujitec, a global manufacturer of people-moving systems, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, is focusing on establishing its credentials in the fast-growing Dubai market.

“Dubai is our niche market, this is where Fujitec has very good prospects for growth,” says Takakazu Uchiyama, president and chief executive officer with Fujitec, Japan.
Fujitec has been distributing its complete range of products in the UAE in association with Al Yousef Electronics, and is reputed globally as a provider of high-quality people-moving equipment with superior technology and support.
Fujitec, which has been constantly developing innovative products, introduced the next generation Belta series last year, incorporating the Talon system that moves the elevator cab by driving a special belt pressed against the rope on a sheave.
“In the machine-room-less Belta series, the weight of the elevator cab is reduced to minimise the load on the building. Furthermore, the compact drive system saves hoist way space, improves design flexibility and reduces rope wear for extended service life. The interior of the elevator cab features refined design and user-friendly operating controls,” says a spokesman for the company.
Another innovative product from Fujitec is its accelerating auto walk Speedmove, which runs at high speed in the middle section to realise shorter travel time and runs at slower speed at enter and exit sections for the safety of passengers.
“Fujitec products are highly valued around the world. A commitment to quality is demonstrated in every phase of production from development of a single component to completion of the finished product and the company was the first elevator manufacturer to obtain the ISO 9001 certification.”
Today, Fujitec Group has 11 manufacturing bases in seven countries – the US, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, China (Langfang, Shanghai and Hong Kong) and Japan.
Although the company has been present in the Middle East for nearly two decades, it was in 1999 that it decided to reactivate itself in the markets of Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Bahrain and Qatar, he says.
According to a spokesman for Al Yousef Electronics: “Since 2000, the company has recorded extraordinary growth in sales of elevators and escalators, including winning the contract to provide elevators for the 43-storey Al Noor Tower, the tallest in Sharjah and prequalifying for participation in mega developments such as the Marina Tower.”
Elsewhere in the Middle East, Fujitec has supplied luxury model elevators to the Four Seasons, a first-class hotel in Amman, Jordan, the Citibank headquarters in Bahrain and the Asyut High Court building, Egypt.
