PalTrade (Palestinian Trade) Centre, has announced its decision to open distribution centres in the UAE in co-operation with the Union of Stone and Marble. The move is expected to give Palestinian stone and marble suppliers greater access to Gulf markets.
The products of Palestinian companies were showcased at the Palestinian national pavilion at the Big 5 Show held recently in the UAE.
Muhammad Sharia, executive director, Union of Stone and Marble Industry, said that Jerusalem stone, the premium marble coming out of Palestinian quarries, was already in high demand in the US and several European countries.
“The participation of the Palestinian Stone and Marble industry in the Big 5 Show had dual objectives. The first was to establish contact with the construction industry in the UAE. Our presence had a very good response. Potential clients have had the opportunity to experience first-hand the quality, the finish and the integral beauty of this stone,” said Sharia.
“The show has given us the chance to study the requirements of the market and to help us to customise our products to meet the needs of the projects in the region.”
“The next step is to establish a network of distributors that will ensure the visibility of the product to local architects, design consultants and builders. We intend to make our presence in the local UAE market a permanent one,” he said.
