A satellite and aerial photo of The Palm, Jebel Ali, was revealed by its developers, Nakheel, recently. The photos show that construction of the second island is well under way with the crescent breakwater already emerging from the sea.

Wahid Attalla, director of operations, Nakheel said: “This island will be 50 per cent larger than the first palm – The Palm, Jumeirah – and the immense size of the construction is already clear from these first photos.”
Construction of The Palm, Jebel Ali is on schedule and reclamation is expected to finish towards the end of 2005. The first residents are expected to be moving in by the end of 2007.
The new elements featured in The Palm will include 1,060 water homes to be built on stilts.
