In a major boost to its Middle Eastern footprint, Indian engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured twin ‘ultra-mega’ contracts – each valued at over Rs150 billion ($1.57 billion) – across its onshore and offshore energy verticals. 

Under the major deals for Middle East clients, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore (LTEH Onshore) will deliver comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for a critical sour gas compression facility and associated power infrastructure. Concurrently, LTEH Offshore has been awarded an extensive engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract to develop multiple offshore facilities, subsea infrastructure, and large-scale fabrication. 

LTEH Onshore’s “ultra-mega” contract for a prestigious client in the Middle East involves EPC of gas compression plants, comprising gas inlet facilities, gas compression systems, condensate and produced water handling systems, propane refrigeration systems and all associated utilities. The facilities will be developed for new onshore installations to process sour gas in compliance with applicable client standards, codes and project requirements, it said without giving the name of the client.

To meet the power requirements of the gas compression plants, L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business will execute two 230 kV extra-high-voltage substations.

Meanwhile, under its contract, L&T Offshore will execute the project scope encompassing engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of offshore facilities.  A significant portion of the fabrication activities will be carried out at L&T’s integrated, world-class manufacturing and fabrication facilities, said the Indian construction major in its statement.
