Following the successful launch of flagship entertainment assets including Six Flags Qiddiya City and the Middle East’s largest water theme park, Aquarabia, Qiddiya City is accelerating construction on its primary sports masterplan.
Saudi Arabia’s massive entertainment, sports and cultural hub, located 45 km southwest of Riyadh, is making substantial progress on two signature athletic destinations: the National Tennis Centre and the Qiddiya City Golf Course. Designed to expand Saudi Arabia’s sports ecosystem, these adjacent projects combine elite international venue standards, high-performance athlete training facilities, and integrated community amenities.
National Tennis Centre
Under construction against the backdrop of the Tuwaiq Mountains, the National Tennis Centre will become the largest complex of its kind in the region. Designed by global sports architecture firm Populous, the complex will feature a total of 30 tennis courts, comprising 28 hard courts and two clay courts, delivering an overall seating capacity of 33,000 across the site. The courts are being built to meet to full ATP, WTA, and ITF specifications to attract and host some of the world’s most prestigious events.
At the heart of the National Tennis Centre is the flagship 15,000-seat Centre Court, equipped with a retractable roof, designed to host major international tennis events while also providing flexibility for other sporting and entertainment events. The venue’s spectator infrastructure includes the 5,000-seat Court 1, the 2,000-seat Court 2, and six dedicated outdoor match courts offering 450 seats each. Complementing the primary tennis arenas is Court 3, an 8,000-seat multi-use indoor arena with a retractable roof built to accommodate sports, concerts, and large-scale staging. Across the development, the layout incorporates six competition courts, six indoor courts, and 14 practice courts.
The development will also include a dedicated High-Performance Training Centre, providing training, recovery, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and wellness facilities designed to support the development of Saudi tennis talent at the highest level. Beyond professional competition, the National Tennis Centre will offer community tennis programmes, public spaces and fan experiences, supporting participation in the sport at all levels.
Designed to integrate with Qiddiya City’s distinctive setting, the the National Tennis Centre incorporates layered green facades to seamlessly blend its structural footprint into the surrounding mountain cliffside, creating a destination that brings together professional sport, community activity and year-round entertainment.
Qiddiya City Golf Course
Positioned adjacent to the tennis complex, the 18-hole championship course designed by Sir Nick Faldo is rapidly nearing completion towards its scheduled opening later in 2026. Set within the landscape of the Tuwaiq Mountains, the course capitalises on the dramatic local topography and has been designed to provide a world-class golfing experience while welcoming players across different levels of the sport, from both beginners to elite professionals.

The wider scheme comprises an iconic clubhouse, a full-service golf academy, a driving range, and dedicated leisure, fitness and wellness spaces. Through Qiddiya City’s global partnership with the Faldo Series, the venue will actively support the development of young golfers and create further opportunities for the next generation of Saudi players.
An Integrated Hub
Together, the National Tennis Centre and Qiddiya City Golf Course represent Qiddiya City’s approach to creating an integrated sports destination that serves both elite competition and the wider community. The developments will contribute to the kingdom’s growing sports infrastructure while creating new opportunities for participation, athlete development, international events and sports tourism, reinforcing Qiddiya City’s role as a destination for entertainment, sports and culture.
Anchored to a philosophy of the ‘Power of Play’, Qiddiya City is already welcoming visitors to the world record-breaking Six Flags theme park and Aquarabia. Other major assets announced include the recently opened PlayMaker Studios, the Speed Park Track, the innovative Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, the Qiddiya City Horse Racing Venue, the world’s first dedicated Gaming & Esports District and the Qiddiya Performing Arts Centre.
Qiddiya City will feature homes, retail, offices, hotels, schools, and hospitals, ensuring a destination where people live, work, play, have access to the best sports, entertainment, and cultural experiences.
It will be connected by world-class public transport including the future Qiddiya High-Speed Rail, which will connect to King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in 17 minutes and to the future King Salman International Airport in 30 minutes.
