Bahri and Mazroei Trading Company (BMTC), established in 1968 as a trading company in Dubai, has today emerged as a total solutions provider in the business of electrical, lighting, fire-detection and alarm systems, security and access control, networking and communications, fountains and pools.

The company represents major and well-known multinationals in the UAE. The group more than doubled its turnover in the last couple of years and current forecasts are it will double again in another three years mainly through its planned diversification and expansion programmes.

"We were involved in a big way in the recent Grand Hyatt project in Dubai, and this involved special designs and custom-built solutions," says the deputy director Yousuf Al Suwaidi. "Our strength lies in providing such custom-designed solutions."

BMTC employs close to 200 fully-trained and handpicked employees and the company represents about 120 principals and offers about 14,000 components related to its line of business and industry.

"Our reputation - that of a dependable supplier - our network, infrastructure and service backup, besides the in-house design facility, are our major strengths. Our work starts after the sale is over and this is what differentiates us from others," elaborates Al Suwaidi.

On the company's future plans, he says: "We are looking at a lot of new divisions as a one-stop shop, all under one roof. We also plan to launch some new exciting products and services soon for the building industry and are looking at joint ventures, both locally and also in other GCC countries.

"There is a need to be on the fast track in order to grow and we aspire to be the 'first choice amongst decision makers'."

The company is in the process of setting up a state-of-the-art demo studio, at an approximate cost of Dh1 million ($272,500), for its building management integration systems (BMS) at its corporate headquarters in Dubai, where prospective clients can get hands-on experience of the various technologies and integration systems.

These will also include intelligent lighting, dimming systems, fire alarm systems with voice evacuation, access control, CCTV (closed circuit television) and guest room control, amongst other systems.
