
Dubai to build new houses
Dubai: Dubai Municipality's government housing section has undertaken a Dh121.5 million ($33.08 million) project to build government houses in different areas of the emirate.
Housing complexes are expected to come up in the Central Hatta area at an estimated cost of Dh38 million while plans are under way for another project for the construction of 21 houses in Lehbab at a cost of Dh20 million, local media reported.
Eighty houses are expected to come up in Satwa at a cost of Dh21.5 million and another 66 houses in Lehbab have been built at a cost of Dh42 million.
Essa Al Maidour, director of the Building and Housing Department, said plans were also under way to design a grand mosque at Al Garhoud at an estimated cost of Dh8.73 million. Another mosque that will be constructed at the Port Saeed area at a cost of Dh7 million while a third mosque will come up at Zaabeel at an estimated cost of Dh3.7 million.
Future projects envisaged by the section include construction of mosques in several areas such as Hatta, Riqqa Al Batin, Zabeel 2, Oud Al Matina, Al Muraqqabat and Umm Suqeim, the report said.
6,816 residential units planned
Dubai: The Dubai Municipality is finalising designs for a project to develop the Al Jadaf area at Al Garhoud. The Dh350 million ($95 million) project calls for the creation of a residential complex with 6,816 units.
The total area of the project is 600 hectares, out of which 92 hectares have been assigned for investment projects, 100 hectares for institutional purposes and 87 hectares allocated for manufacturing and selling of boats, according to an official at the Planning and Survey Department.
The residential area will include large car parks and green areas. There will be a 30,000 sq m park located in the middle of the area.
Institutional areas will be built at different locations within the locality to make them easily accessible. Many industrial projects will be relocated from the area to enhance its aesthetics.
The project includes the development of the Al Jadaf Corniche which will have yacht harbour and facilities like restaurants, cafeterias, green-belts for pedestrians as well as buildings that overlook the creek.
Qatar setting up border complex
Doha: Qatar is building a new complex near its border with Saudi Arabia to cater to the needs of travellers.
The Abu Samra complex is expected to open in about two months, a report said.
It will offers facilities such as immigration services, customs checkpoints, mosques, restaurants, shops, waiting areas, and rest rooms among others.
Dewa to build pumping stations
Dubai: A Dh48 million ($13.07 million) water project in the UAE is being implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa).
The project involves the construction of water pumping stations of 30 million gallons per day (mgd) capacity along the Jebel Ali Al Hibab road, Dewa said in a statement.
Prominent areas such as the Endurance Village, Academic City, Al Lseili area, all industrial and development projects along Jebel Ali-Al Hibab road, and the areas adjacent to the Dubai-Al Ain road will benefit from the project, Dewa general manager Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said.
The project is part of a recent Dewa plan to upgrade water networks and pumping stations in Dubai from their production centre at Jebel Ali to the areas that they will serve, ensuring a stable and continuous flow.
The project will take 18 months to implement and will constitute an important step in the development of the transmission networks in Dubai.
Kuwait plans new towers, homes
Kuwait: Kuwait's Awqaf Ministry is planning a number of major construction projects in various parts of the country.
These will include construction of a new tower and residential and commercial complexes at an estimated KD10 million ($33 million) and another tower on the Fahad Al-Salem Street next to the Justice Palace. There will be another huge tower in Hawally too.
The ministry has also been granted approval by the Ministry of Finance to invite bids for the construction a new building for the Kuwait Institute For Judicial and Legal Studies on a build-own-and-transfer (BOT) basis.
Green light for health center
Manama: A BD1.4 million ($3.7 million) state-of-the-art health centre is to be built in the Northern Governorate.
It will be built in Al Nakheel Avenue, between Seef and Diraz and will serve about 50,000 residents.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has earmarked BD300,000 for the Zallaq Health Centre and BD20,000 for furnishing Askar Health Centre.
Resort to construct 312 chalets
Kuwait: The Kuwait Hotels Company is planning to build 312 chalets at its Al Dabaiya resort in Ahmadi.
A US company specialising in tourism projects is reported to be in talks over the project.
The KD25 million ($83 million) project will include a mosque, health centre, mail centre, a number of cafeterias, lakes and fountains. The resort is managed by Kuwait Hotels, which runs the Safir chain of hotels.
