
The local Belhasa Engineering & Contracting Company won a Dh168 million ($45.74 million) contract to build a residential development in Dubai.
The Green Community will be located in the Dubai Investments Park, about 35km from downtown Dubai.
The scope of work under the Belhasa contract includes 312 townhouses, 71 family villas and 10 luxury villas as well as three recreation centres. The villas will be designed Mediterranean-style and have high-tech amenities.
The first package under the Green Community development will provide roughly 2.5 million sq ft of residential and commercial property. Each recreation centre will have a swimming pool, fitness studio and common room.
Other packages to be awarded are 56 three-bedroom apartments in a terraced arrangement overlooking the manmade lake 5 office blocks of approximately 3,500 sq m each; 45 one and two bedroom apartments located near the office blocks; 170 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments in a gardened environment on the outskirts of the villa development; and a commercial centre including restaurants, retail, supermarkets, health club and a hotel.
The project will be managed by Union Properties and is expected to be ready for occupancy by end-2003.
