TOP-LEVEL fire and safety officials are expected to attend the Middle East Fire and Safety Conference in Dubai, UAE, where they will explore issues like codes and practices, architectural designing, technology and emergency response planning.
Organised by Fleming Gulf, the conference is scheduled to be held from September 27 to 29.
The event will bring together senior fire and safety representatives from across the sectors ranging from the government, hospitality, oil and gas, and construction and architectural design firms. These include Dr Dheeraj Lal Radadiya from Adnoc, Matthew Bishop from Saudi Aramco, Nabeel Ali from Enoc, Patrick Thomas from Besix, Rajendran Ekambaram from Trakhees, Peter Van Gorp from Ramboll Middle East, and Faimeen Shah from Exova Warrington Consulting Middle East.
It is estimated that 70 per cent of all workplace accidents could be prevented if proper safety control measures are in place. “A study suggests that most of the accidents can be averted if a proactive approach is observed by all stakeholders of a project,” says Jumana Mashraqui, conference producer at Fleming Gulf.
“Fire safety is a joint approach and works best with all the relevant entities performing their roles effectively. For instance, the government could particularly work on the design and architectural issues before licensing the project, while the industry leaders, contractors and sub-contractors need to abide by the safety regulations with the support of fire safety models and technologies.”
