MORE than 5,000 people attended the inaugural Arabian Construction Week 2010, underscoring its status as the new platform for networking and business sourcing in the regional construction industry.

The event held in May (24 to 26) incorporated four dedicated vertical trade exhibitions and two regional summits on sustainability, innovation and infrastructure, for visitors, delegates and construction industry professionals over the three days.
Held over an area of 8,000 sq m at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), the event comprised exhibitions on Middle East’s green building, future-build, building machinery and civil engineering. Two summits concurrently held – Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) and the Green Building Middle East Summit – and the Emirates Green Building Council Focus Day brought together more than 700 participants and over 100 speakers.
The Arabian Construction Week also saw order books filling up, with exhibitors sealing deals worth millions. Albert Douglas, CEO of Alomi Real Wood Floors, said: “We have won an order for the unique Alomi wood flooring product worth more than $2 million for a hotel and leisure complex in Riyadh.”
Wolfgang Douglas, CEO of Timberwolf Carpentry, said: “We have agreed on orders worth $1 million that will be brought to fruition over the next nine to 12 months.”
