Allgood Worldwide, the international arm of Allgood, claims to have produced a revolutionary form of wireless access control which offers total flexibility while being easy to install.
"We've removed one of the facilities manager's major headaches," states a spokesman for the company, referring to the new access control system called Emit, which harnesses the latest technological advances to deliver access control with no cables. ''This makes it exceptionally simple both to install and operate. And it's more affordable than existing systems."
''Emit provides all the advantages of traditional access control but it has eliminated many of the problems,'' he explains. "Its secret is that it is cable-free. Instead of a key, token, card or numeric code, it is operated by a transponder, which communicates, via encrypted data signals, with a computerised cylinder in the door. But the real beauty of Emit is its ease of installation and its total flexibility.
''Previously, when an existing door had to be made part of an access control system, you needed to install and wire up to a control box, a reader and some form of electronic lock. All had to be physically linked to a central control point and to a power source by cable.
''This has been standard practice for many years, but every facilities manager knows the disruption and expense this causes. It means hacking a channel through the wall for the cable, destroying the door frame and the subsequent time and cost to repair and redecorate. You might need an electrician, a carpenter and a decorator. And you have to go through the whole process for every door you need to make the system secure.
''With Emit, all you need is a screwdriver. You simply replace the old cylinder with the new Emit cylinder and the job is done. Installation takes two minutes and computerised digital technology does the rest.
''Unlike other access control, and traditional master keying, Emit is completely flexible. Whereas a master key suite is set in stone once delivered, and electronic systems require expert installation, Emit can be expanded easily throughout a building, adapting instantly to changing access control needs as tenants come and go or a building's use changes.
''Each person only needs one transponder, there are no potential nightmares over lost or copied keys as adding and deleting people from the system can be done in seconds and Emit provides all the usual time profiling, audit trailsÉ. and more.''
''It is without doubt the most intelligent solution on the market, not so much the latest development in access control but a revolutionary new approach to the access control conundrum,'' he adds. ''Very simply, Emit will change the way people think about access control.''
The product will be on display at Allgood Worldwide's stand at The Big 5 show in Dubai in October.
