The TV centre... Wright Style glazing.

One of the UK's leading steel glazing specialists has successfully completed a prestigious contract in Egypt, using its advanced roof glazing systems.

Wright Style, based in Devizes, Wiltshire, supplied 350 sq m of its SR roof glazing system for the Mubarak TV centre complex in Cairo, which included a 16-m single-span sloped main entrance.

The SR system was chosen because of its inherent strength, allowing the large unsupported span to be achieved without the requirement of additional steelwork - thereby improving the visual appearance of the glazed roof structure, according to Jane Embury, a spokeswoman for Wright Style.

''That combination of form and function is central to Wright Style's development programme, working in partnership with designers and architects to supply a technically-superior, comprehensive range of interior and exterior steel glazing products and systems," she says.

The SR range of roof glazing systems - now successfully installed in a number of projects worldwide - comprises cold-rolled steel and stainless steel profiles. These are available in varying widths, depths and material thickness to suit individual applications.

These systems are complemented with a wide variety of capping profiles, in aluminium or stainless steel, with options for either structural or point-fixed glazing.

She continues: ''Specially-developed gaskets, with integral drainage channels, allow the system to pressure-equalise and self-drain. This means it can deal with large amounts of water in extreme weather conditions. The systems are also weather-performance tested and certified to DIN and BS standards.

''SR systems are available in fire-rated options for up to 60 minutes for integrity only, or integrity and insulation to BS476 Part 22.

'In addition, the system can accommodate a variety of glass thicknesses of up to 100 mm, making it suitable for ballistic and blast-resistant applications."

The systems can be manufactured either in stick format using shear block construction or pre-welded as a modular unit. Whichever method is utilised, Wright Style offers a complete technical support service to its network of licensed fabricators world-wide - ensuring global coverage with quality-assured local installation, she adds.

''Wright Style is committed to the provision of both bespoke and standard systems, working in partnership with architects and specifiers to develop innovative steel glazing solutions that both look good and deliver added security.

''That commitment to remain at the forefront of its technologies has seen the firm, in the past year, announce a number of innovative new glazing products and systems.

''These include the first multi-pane glazing system to achieve 120 minutes fire resistance, the world's first pivot window with 60 minutes integrity and the world's first fire-resistant automatic sliding door,'' she points out.

Wright Style recently installed the world's first fire-rated pivot windows in a hotel in Dubai.
