Al Khobar-based Middle East Development Company (Medco) will distribute Gehl's skid-steer loaders in the Kingdom following an agreement reached with the US-based manufacturer.

Under the deal, Medco will distribute Gehl's skid-steer loaders in the Kingdom. The range includes six models (SL 1625/ SL 3825/ SL 4635/ SL 4835/ SL 5635/ SL 6635) between 1.3 and 3.4 tonnes with a power output between 21 and 80 hp.

Outlining the features of the line, a Medco spokesman says: ''Most important is the unbeatable hydraulic power of these workhorses. In the high-flow version, the big Gehl SL6635 offers a hydraulic flow rate of 136 l/min at 200 bar fully reversible for forward and reversing of oil flow, which is important for attachments working in both directions, such as earth augers, trencher equipment, cold planers and others.

''With its two-speed option, the SL6635 can match a top speed of 20 km/h. These loaders are ideal for road construction, tunnelling, landscaping as well as for agricultural applications.

''Working comfort and attested safety are given high priority at Gehl. Service and maintenance is made easy by the layout of the machine. In addition, the tiltable operator's cabin provides quick and safe access to these components for daily inspection, service and repair, if necessary. The genuine Gehl ergonomic T-bar controls, power-assisted steering and a long wheelbase provide added comfort to the driver.''

Gehl, a group of companies headquartered in the US and Germany, has been one of the world's leading manufacturers of skid-steer loads for more than 27 years. Gehl skid-steer loaders are already well-accepted in the Kingdom, he adds. In addition, Medco offers a complete range of articulated loads from Gehl GmbH of Germany with capacities ranging between 16 and 47 hp. ''This kind of machinery is new in Saudi Arabia, with Medco being the first to offer it in the Kingdom,'' the spokesman says.
