With two decades of trading experience behind it, Contraco launched itself into the contracting field in early 1990 with the aim of participating in Qatar's infrastructure construction and development.
Today, the firm is registered as a class 'A' contractor for civil works and is involved in some of the prestigious projects under way in the country.
Established in 1972, Contraco concentrated on trading activities especially in building materials for almost 20 years and established a good reputation in the local market.
Within 12 years in the contracting business, the company has gained an enviable name for itself through professional management and high-quality workmanship, says a spokesman for the Doha-based company.
''Contraco has an unblemished record for meeting its commitments on time and to the complete satisfaction of its clients,'' he says. ''Over the years, the company has developed a core structure in Doha that provides complete management and technical support to its construction activities in the area.''
Contraco has been involved in a wide range of construction activities. The company has successfully completed a number of prestigious projects for both the government and the private sectors. It has constructed several landmark buildings with state-of-the-art facilities in Qatar including multistorey office buildings, shopping complexes, schools, hospitals, stadiums, gymnasiums, villa complexes, tennis and squash complexes, as well as road and interior decoration works.
''Contraco has enjoyed strong growth over the past years and will continue to maintain the same growth levels in the future as well,'' he adds.
The total value of projects it has completed or is currently handling over the period since 1990 has crossed over QR1 billion ($274.72 million), with an exemplary average growth rate of 77 per cent during the past three years, he points out. To date, the company has constructed buildings with a total builtup area of 448,947 sq m and roads stretching over a total length of 225 km.
''Contraco places considerable emphasis on safety, quality and delivery, as it well appreciates that these form the basis for repeat business in this sector,'' he says.
Being a 100 per cent Qatari organisation, Contraco has in hand all permits and licences required to operate efficiently in Qatar. In addition, the firm is backed by sound support facilities ranging from human resources to a healthy financial background:
