$64m health projects planned
The UAE Ministry of Health will launch several projects in Dubai and the Northern Emirates this month at a total cost of Dh235 million ($64 million), according to a senior health official.
Ministry undersecretary Hassan Al Alkim said the ministry approved 11 projects to meet the increasing demand for health services in those areas.
"The projects include a new dentistry clinic in Jumairah area in Dubai at a cost of Dh10 million along with Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Jumairah at a cost of Dh50 million. The hospital will have 200 beds," he said in the report.
The projects also include a primary health care centre in Deba Al Hesn in Sharjah, costing Dh4.5 million.
In Ajman, a Dh7 million health centre in Mezera and a new preventive medicine centre costing Dh7 million are to be built.
The report also said a general hospital would be established in Umm Al Quwain at a cost of Dh50 million along with a medical complex for preventive medicine and school health, costing Dh7 million.
A Dh40-million obstetrics and gynaecology hospital will be established in Ras Al Khaimah in addition to two primary health care centres, one in Kodra (Dh4.5 million) and another in Red Island area (Dh5 million).
Another obstetrics and gynaecology hospital will be constructed in Fujairah at a cost of Dh50 million.
Dubai completes road design
Dubai: Dubai Municipality has completed final designs of the Dubai Bypass Road (third phase) and will soon float a tender to contracting companies.
Construction is expected to begin this month with an estimated cost of Dh60 million ($16.3 million) and will take one year to complete.
Sami Al Hashmi, acting director of the Roads Department said the project is the third phase of the bypass road that connects Dubai-Al Ain Road to Al Awir-Hatta Road at the Al Rawiya Intersection near the Dubai Sports and Cultural Club. He said the project involves construction of a two-lane dual carriageway which is separated by a 15-m-wide median.
Diplomat to get $5.3m facelift
Manama: The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel will soon begin a BD2 million ($5.3 million) room and restaurant refurbishment project, which will transform and upgrade all of its 246 rooms and suites.
Meanwhile, construction of the BD6.5 million Diplomat Residential Tower will likely begin next summer.
The 14-storey luxury apartment complex will be built north of the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel. The project will take three years to finish and that the residential tower will both complement and supplement the five-star property.
