The improved fire sprinklers from Johnson Controls.

Johnson Controls, a specialist in fire, HVAC, automation and security equipment for buildings, has launched its newly redesigned Tyco Series LFII residential 4.9 K-factor Concealed Pendent Sprinkler which is claimed to offer installation flexibility and efficiency, by providing more adjustability than many current products available.

The product gives contractors flexibility when cutting fixed sprinkler drops and conceals the operating components above the ceiling, according to a spokesman for the company.

He explains: “With an increased vertical adjustment level of 3/4 inch (19.1 mm), the new LFII sprinkler provides more adjustability than many current products available which only offer 1/2-inch (12.7 mm) adjustability,” he explains.

“The flat profile of the cover plate assembly conceals the sprinkler operating components above the ceiling for appealing design in homes, apartments, dormitories and hotels.”

The Tyco Series LFII Residential Concealed Pendent Sprinkler is available in both ordinary 155 deg F (68 deg C) and intermediate 200 F (93 deg C) temperature-rated configurations. Both sprinkler models are designed with heat sensitivity and water distribution characteristics, proven to help control residential fires and facilitate occupant evacuation, he adds.

“The LFII residential sprinkler can be paired with Tyco Rapid Seal Fittings for even greater efficiency during installation,” says Don Ricca, Global Product Director, Johnson Controls. “When combined, they provide the ideal combination of form and function, helping keep installations simple and aesthetically pleasing while offering exceptional performance for our customers.”

The sprinklers are intended for use in wet pipe systems for one- and two-family dwellings, mobile homes, residential occupancies up to and including four storeys in height and residential portions of any occupancy, per NFPA 13, 13D and 13R. They are UL and C-UL Listed and have a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). A disposable protective cap is provided to protect the sprinkler during ceiling installation.

The Tyco Series LFII Residential Concealed Pendent Sprinkler complements a full line of Johnson Controls fire suppression products.
