The stacking stool ... proportionate.

Pinch brings out new range for festival

Iconic British design studio Pinch has announced a range of new product launches to coincide with London Design Festival 2019 (September 14 to 22), as part of its 15th anniversary celebrations. These include a new dining table, sofa, and stacking stool, all of which demonstrate the studio’s signature style and ambition to create furniture and lighting with strong shapes, beautiful materiality and expert craftsmanship.

Pinch’s first circular dining table is Rodan, whose strong, solid base, contrasts with the lightness of its solid oak table top. As with all Pinch pieces, the detailing is exacting, with a signature chamfer detail to the edge of the table to ensure the gentlest of engagement with the natural beauty of the timber. The Rodan dining table partners perfectly with the lightness of the studio’s much-feted Avery chain.

Another addition, Roubel sofa is striking yet simple, with a sumptuous wraparound top frame providing neck support and supreme comfort. Roubel exemplifies Russell Pinch’s design approach, which is to create sculptural shapes detailed with a lightness of touch, and an architectural rigour. In this piece, the three, defined sections of the upholstery shape combine to deliver comfort and elegance.

The new addition to the Avery chair series, the Avery stacking stool is clean and poised, with a neat footprint and perfectly proportioned sizing. The stool is offered in solid European oak with a white oil finish. It is also available in a solid black American walnut.

The stool’s seat can be upholstered for extra comfort and is a practical solution for pull-up extra seating for larger gatherings, and stacks elegantly when not in use. The Avery sacking stool can also be used as a side table.

Fabbian shows its flair for lighting

Fabbian, a hand-made decorative and architectural lighting specialist, will next month launch its new Fruitfull and Malvasia suspension lamps, in addition to the revamped Ivette lamp, which 20 years after its launch has gone through restyling in the finishes marking the timelessness of the Italian firm’s lamps.

Fruitfull has been designed to create a luminous object that expresses the concept of spirituality and purity, according to a spokesman for the company. “The shapes are unique and original, evoking delicate three-dimensional petals which create extraordinary lighting effects, surprising also when turned off. This collection is decorative, poetic and light, suitable for a timeless style, modern and minimalist furnishing but also for more traditional environments,” he says.

The collection comprises indoor suspension and table lamps in different sizes.  Meanwhile, Malvasia speaks of the land, of tradition, vineyards and sun-soaked hillsides of Italy. “With its elegant shape, at times resembling a wine glass, at other a decanter, it encourages a welcoming, hospitable environment,” says the spokesman for the company.

The Malvasia collection of indoor suspension lamps in different shapes and sizes is suitable for the home but also to give a twist to a public place, a bar or restaurant.

On the other hand, Ivette has a simple shape distinguished by the convex edges of the shade. Despite the years, it is still a very modern lamp thanks to the revisiting of its finishes, the new colour of the cable and the supporting structure of the glass.

Manital presents the mini rosette collection

Manital, an Italian company which has been producing handles for doors and windows for 28 years, has unveiled Minimal, a new rosette series characterised by its extremely reduced dimension.

The rosette sits flush both with the handle and the door.

“Minimal is based on the ‘less is more’ concept, in which minimalism of shapes is essence. It is a design and style construction where the space occupied is kept to a minimum and thus putting the focus put on the handle further enhancing its design and aesthetics,” says a spokesman for the company.

The rosettes are available in round or square version, with a diameter 25 mm, for all models and in all Manital finishes.
